Good Egg Pricing Explained

At Good Egg, we believe in keeping things simple, transparent, and fair - including how we show pricing on our website.

You’ll often see two prices on our product pages:

  • A strikethrough price
  • Our discounted price (in bold)

Here’s what those mean.

For OEM (Genuine) Products

Strikethrough price = Manufacturer's RRP
For genuine products (like Brother, Canon, Epson, or HP), the strikethrough price is the Recommended Retail Price (RRP) set by the manufacturer. In other words, the price they suggest retailers charge.

We show it so you can easily see how much you’re saving by shopping with Good Egg.

Rrp strikeout

For Compatible or Third-Party Products

Strikethrough price = Highest competitor price
These products don’t have an official RRP, so the strikethrough price reflects the highest price we’ve found from other NZ retailers for the same or a comparable product.

We use an independent third-party service (Prisync) to track and monitor pricing across multiple New Zealand online stores.

This gives you a clear, honest reference point - and helps you compare value at a glance.

Competitor price strikeout

How Often Are These Prices Updated?

Competitor prices are updated daily, so the reference price you see is always based on the most recent market data.

We never inflate these figures. The strikethrough price is real, relevant, and backed by data - not guesswork or marketing fluff.

Why Show Two Prices?

Because price matters.

But so does service. Our customer reviews regularly highlight our fast shipping, reliable support, and clear communication, as well as our competitive pricing.

By showing how our prices stack up, we make it easier for you to shop smart and buy with confidence, knowing you’re getting genuine value.
